Type 2 Diabetes support group will meet at 6 p.m. on February 9 at the Diabetes Center.
St. Paul Lutheran Church is hosting a Taco Dinner February 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lutheran School. Benefits the school basketball team.
The Lions Club will host a trivia night at 7 p.m. on February 11 at the Memorial United Methodist Church. $100 per table of 8-10 people to benefit area needy seeking eye exams and glasses.
MAC'S student music organization, National Assoc. for Music Education will raise money for its activities by holding a trivia night fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the North College Center at Mineral Area College, Park Hills. Champagne Brunch Benefit for David Beckermann, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cance, at The Factory in Farmington, from 9 a.m. till Noon, on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Presbyterian Manor will hold its annual art exhibit February 22-24. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. on February 24 at the Manor. The public is invited to see the many works of art that will be on display.
The Farmington Knights continue their winning ways. On January 20-21 the Knights finished with five first-place wins, four seconds, one third, and four fourths to finish in first place in the SEMO Conference Wrestling Tournament at Jackson. All told, the Farmington team amassed 425 points with Jackson coming in second with 385.5 points. Ste. Genevieve and North County rounded out the top four.
Our community continues to grow. The 2010 census gives these figures for the top four cities of St. Francois County: Farmington 16,240, Park Hills 8,759, Bonne Terre 6,864, and Desloge, 5.054. The new county figure is 65,359. While the city of Cape Girardeau remain the largest community in our part of the state with 37,941 residents, Farmington is about to overtake both of the next two traditional largest towns, Poplar Bluff with 17,318 and Sikeston with 16,318 residents.
A monthly grief support group will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second Thursday each month at our chapel.
The American Cancer Society support group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the Community Room at MARMC. For more informaton: Sharon at 756-9663.
Mineral Area Woodcarvers meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Farmington Senior Center. All skill levels are welcome.
A free support group for parents who have lost children will be held from 7-8 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 400 N. Washington St. For more information, call 747-0335.
The Lions Club meets at 7 a.m. on each Tuesday at the MARMC cafeteria.
The Presbyterian Manor is seeking volunteers to help with resident shopping, delivering mail to residents and a piano player for Wednesday and Sunday afternoon. For more information, call Teresa Pinkley at 756-6768.
Farmington Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry has a fundraiser at CiCi's Pizza on 3rd Monday of each month, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 10% of Receipts go to help the food pantry.
Al-Anon Support group will meet 7 to 8 p.m. each Thursday at the Farmington Church of the Nazarene. Call 756-2791 if any questions.
Volunteers are needed by the Farmington Senior Center to help deliver meals to the homebound in our area. Help is also needed to pack these meals and to serve the noon meal at the center. More more information, call Mona Yates at 756-1376. |
