Albert Smith Keller, Jr. Beloved Father, Companion, and Musician

May 5, 1965 – October 15, 2025

Albert Smith Keller, Jr., born on May 5, 1965, at Scott Air Force Base in Mascoutah, Illinois, passed away at home on October 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He attended school and graduated in Mascoutah, where he built lifelong friendships and a deep love for his hometown.

Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert Smith Keller, Sr.; his mother, Lela Jean Detar Keller; his sister, Darlene Knoblock; his maternal grandparents, Don and Emma Detar; and his paternal grandparents, Smith and Twila Keller.

He is survived by his devoted companion of 20 years, Charlet Chenoweth; his daughter, Abby Keller, and her boyfriend, Hector; his brother, Hal Keller (Darlene); and his beloved furbaby, Zoey, who was his constant companion and truly his “baby.” Zoey brought him immeasurable comfort and joy, and the bond they shared was something special.

Albert is also survived by his stepchildren, Kim Larkins (Chris) and Shawn Olive; along with numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

A talented musician, Albert had a lifelong passion for music. He played in numerous bands and cherished every opportunity to perform with his friends. He loved life, loved laughter, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and those closest to him, creating lasting memories filled with joy, humor, and song.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date for all family and friends to come together and celebrate Albert’s life.

You will be forever in our hearts, and your huge laugh will never be forgotten. Fly high, my little drummer boy.
