Ann Margaret Ramsey, 85, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at her home on October 24, 2025. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Boxdorfer and Audrey Pauline (Cheesebrough) Boxdorfer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ramsey, and by her son, John Wright, Jr.
Raised in Farmington, Ann graduated from Farmington High School in 1958. She continued her studies in Indiana, where she earned a master’s degree in music. Devoting her life to the arts and to education, she became a respected music and ballet teacher in the Farmington community and taught Music Theory at Mineral Area College. A meticulous teacher and gracious mentor, she fostered discipline, curiosity, and a love of music and dance in generations of students. Outside the classroom, she was an avid gardener and a proud member of a local garden club.
Ann will be remembered for her intellect, quiet strength, and unwavering grace.
She is survived by her daughters, Susannah Cantrell (Brad Holmes) and Caroline Wright; her grandchildren, Kristopher Penuel, Ellen Cantrell, and Carmen Cantrell; and her great-grandchildren, Angelo Cantrell, Emerie Cantrell, Jesse Cantrell, Jasiah Wilson, Odette Daniels, and Hayley Ramsey. She is also survived by her step-children, Tom (Debby) Ramsey, Rob (Kelly) Ramsey, James (Victoria) Ramsey, and Leann (Randy) Clark; and by her devoted caregiver and dear friend, Mary Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., with visitation resuming at 10:00 a.m., in the Cozean Chapel, Pastor David Schmitt officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
