Barbara “Bobbie” Lou DeGonia of Farmington passed away June 29, 2026, at Camelot Nursing Center at the age of 93. She was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on December 8, 1932, to the late John H. Hodge, Sr. and Pearl Ava (Mackey) Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon DeGonia in 1992. She was also preceded by all her siblings, John Hodge, Jr., Charles Hodge, Virginia Rogers, Ethel Benz, Eva Ramsey and Mary Mason; and her special friend Ed Skaggs.
Barbara grew up in Desloge and married Vernon DeGonia in May of 1951. She was a homemaker for most of her married life. In the years to come she enjoyed taking care of her only granddaughter, Hillary. She and Vernon enjoyed running an auction in Doe Run on Friday and Saturday nights where she managed the snack bar. In her spare time, Barbara liked to travel, go fishing with Vernon, attend Bluegrass festivals and play bingo. Her favorite thing to do was to bake dozens and dozens of cookies at Christmas time to give away to family and friends. Many people lovingly called her MawMaw. Currently, she was a member of DeLassus Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy (Gary) Hunt; granddaughter, Hillary (Brett) Herzog; great grandchildren, Asher Herzog and Libby Herzog, who were her pride and joy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 with Pastor Michael McGuire officiating. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Barbara’s name to Delassus Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association. Share your memories and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
