Barbara D. Kossman

Barbara D. Kossman of Farmington, passed away on August 17, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 83. She was born in Sacramento, California on July 6, 1943, to the late James H. and Mary Ann C. (Good) Ballew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard Kossman in 2023; her brother, William H. “Bill” Ballew in 2022; mother and father-in-law, Irene and Richard Kossman and a brother-in-law, Robert Campbell.

Barbara grew up in the Lemay/South County St. Louis area. She drove a school bus for Mehlville and Affton schools for 20 plus years. In her spare time, she loved to paint and do macramé. Her family will remember her cooking and baking skills and the great dinners she served. She was an ardent John Wayne fan who enjoyed watching and collecting all of his movies. An avid animal lover, she had many pets that she loved during her lifetime. Her two grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she was very proud of their accomplishments.

Survivors include her son, Rick Kossman and his wife, Emily; two grandchildren, Nicholas Kossman and Corporal Lexi Morgan; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Ballew and Audrey Campbell; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; extended family and her special grand dogs, Dixie and Larry.
