With heavy hearts we share that Bennie “Ben” Yount passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 77. Ben was born on September 2, 1947, in Ironton, Missouri to the late John Ertis Yount and Blanche Marie (Graham) Yount.
Ben is survived by his wife, Mary Yount; his three children, Mickey Yount, Marie Muhlke, and Beth Rochelle Rector; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several other loving family members and friends.
Ben spent many years behind the barber chair at Sportsman’s Barbershop in Farmington and was known for his signature ponytail. Ben was thankful for all of his customers’ friendship and support. Ben loved the outdoors and wildlife and had a passion for bow hunting, fishing and perfecting the perfect turkey call. When not in the woods or on the water, he loved watching the Cardinals and the Raiders with his wife, Mary. Grandpa Ben was loved for playing wiffle ball, chasing the kids with the water hose and always offering a push up ice cream on a hot day.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 6 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. To honor Bennie’s memory, contributions may be made to the Bennie Yount Memorial Fund at First State Community Bank to support Bennie’s widow, Mary Yount, during this difficult time.
