Betty Chiyeko Moriyama

Betty Chiyeko Moriyama passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the age of 72. She was born on November 1, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, daughter of Toshi Tatsuo and Dorothy (Nambu) Moriyama. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Moriyama. Betty was an infant when her family was forced into an interment camp in Arkansas during WWII. When the war ended the family moved to Chicago in 1945 where they made their home. As an adult she lived in Chicago before moving to Wisconsin. In 2002 after her retirement she moved to Farmington. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she participated in many acitivites. She was a member of Women of Mary, RCIA, Prayer Shaw Ministry and she volunteered at the fish fries and the yearly picnic. An avid shopper, she was also always on the go helping someone in need. Her fun loving spirit and outgoing personality will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Survivors include a sister, Deanna Moriyama of Wonder Lake, Illinois; her long time companion, Louanne Ericson, of Farmington; niece, Jasmin Almanzar and great niece, Zafirah, both of Fresno, CA; and her beloved little puppy, "Little Rickey". Also surviving are many cherished friends. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. with Father James Dyer officiating. A bereavement luncheon will follow the service at St. Joseph Parish Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cozean Memorial Chapel.
