Listen to Obituary

FARMINGTON - Donald L. Alexander of Farmington went to his Heavenly home on Friday, September 5, 2025, just seven days short of his 89th birthday. He was born September 12, 1936, in Farmington to the late Leeman Alexander and Helen (Larby) Alexander.

Don graduated from Farmington High School in 1955 and went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country until being honorably discharged in August of 1958. Upon his return to civilian life, he went to work for the Medical Arts Pharmacy in Farmington for a number of years. He married Joyce Miller, the love of his life, on his 23rd birthday. In the mid-60s, Don got the opportunity to go to work for Missouri Natural Gas, where he would work for the next 32 years. Don was an engineer and was instrumental in starting the engineering department for the gas company. After his retirement in 1997, he enjoyed his hobbies: golfing, being an avid sports fan, and solving Sudoku puzzles. He was always active in his community, having volunteered for 19 years running the clock at Farmington basketball games. He was an active member and past president of Farmington Lions Club, American Legion Post 416, and past president and member of the Farmington PTA. For many years, he and his wife, Joyce, belonged to the Retreads Motorcycle Club and traveled long distances on their motorcycle.

Don was a faithful, lifetime member of Farmington First Baptist Church, where he served as an Usher and Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce; his children, Brenda Rapp, Lisa (Paul) Garven, and Brent (Kim) Alexander; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Yow; nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends.

A graveside service will be planned for a later time. Memorials may be made in Don’s name to First Baptist Church and Farmington Lions Club. View the tribute video and share your condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
