Donald Eugene "Smitty" Smith

FARMINGTON Donald E. "Smitty" Smith, of Farmington passed away February 6, 2017 at The Arbors at Maplebrook in Farmington at the age of 82. He was born July 15, 1934 in Farmington the son of the late Walter Churchman Smith and Guida (Umfleet) Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy "LaDonna" Smith in 2009, a son, Terry Smith in 2003; and half-sisters, Venita Johnson Holsman and Doris Johnson Presson.

Don was a truck driver for Sanders Trucking until 1983 when he and his wife, LaDonna opened Vans Moving and Storage which they owned and operated for twenty five years. He liked hunting and fishing and ventured every year with friends on a fishing trip to Canada. Don was proud to have been in the Farmington Elks Club for forty five years.

Survivors include his children, Keith Smith of Park Hills; Gina Niemeyer and Lori (Michael) Lamb, all of Farmington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward (Louise) Smith of Farmington.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel, with an Elks service at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, February 10, 2017 beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Matt Prihoda officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
