Donald Leon Slover, 90, of Farmington, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Leon and Dorothy (Robinson) Slover on June 23, 1936, in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

After graduating from Cape Girardeau High School, Don received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri followed by a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

 He was a retired United Methodist clergyperson and a member of the Missouri East Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. For four decades he served as a pastor in small and large congregations in both urban and small-town settings. After retirement he served as an Adjunct Instructor for Central Methodist University at Park Hills.

Don was an avid reader, poet, and Old Testament scholar, in seminary he specialized in Hebrew and Greek. He also enjoyed outside activities, especially birding, bicycling, and hiking. He was very well versed in the flora and fauna of Missouri as witnessed by his children and grandchildren.

Don and Sally Ann spent time in their RV traveling through the states, often pausing in Mountain View, Arkansas and Arrow Rock, Missouri. Many autumn seasons were enjoyed in Gulf Shores, Alabama and many February anniversaries cruising the Caribbean. The most cherished memories were spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Ann and the four children of their blended families, Jacquelyn Slover (Tim), Tim Slover (Michele), Todd Lewis (Jamie), and Tara Lacy (Tom); seven grandchildren, Ashley (Eric), Adam, Cassidy (Ashton), Kyle (Jenna), Carlie (Weston), Rachel (Dylan), and Eli; three great grandchildren, Addi, Ava, and Aubrey; three sisters, Elvera Zwiers, Kathryn Morrison, and Gwen Morrison (Joe); other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Katlyn; brother-in-law, Don Zwiers.

A celebration of life will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Farmington, Missouri on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 1pm. Memorial donations, if desired can be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation, http://mdc.mo.gov.
