Donald Wright

FARMINGTON Donald Wright, of Farmington, passed away March 12, 2016 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus. He was born March 9, 1933 in Mine La Motte to the late Willard and Hilda (Underwood) Wright. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona "Lucille" Wright in 1997; an infant daughter, Janet Lucille Wright; a great granddaughter, Abygail Helm; two brothers, Bill and Tommy Wright; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Harris and Mary Gordon; two brothers-in-law, Bill McClure and Bill Connor.

Don, as most knew him, was inducted into the U. S. Army at the age of 20 where he proudly served for two years. Upon his return home he began an excavation business which he owned and operated for more than 40 years. After he retired he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as gardening. Anyone who knew him knew he enjoyed a good cigar. He was a loving father and grandpa and he was happiest when he was around his family.

Survivors include his four children, Donna Lee of Farmington, Dennis and Teresa Wright of Fredericktown, Gerald Wright and James and Amy Wright, all of Farmington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Wright of California and David (Betsy) Wright of Farmington; three sisters, Patty Conner, Sherry McClure and Debbie (Buster) Mesey; one sister-in-law, Nadine Wright of Fredericktown and one brother-in-law, Joe Gordon of Farmington. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend David Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery in Doe Run. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Don's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
