Dorothy Mae Sikes, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Farmington, at the age of 91. She was born on January 25, 1934, to the late Homer and Bertha (Brown) Pyatt.
Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters, Cindy (John) Houston and Carolyn Rosener; her cherished grandchildren, John (Laura) Houston, Stephanie (Gary) Johnson, Heather (Brian) Ellis, and Scott (Amy) Hahn; and her great-grandchildren, Jameson, Lincoln, Carys, Jackson, Kingston, Abigail, Houston Garrett, Charlie B., and Madeline. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Frago and Wanda Pyatt, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gale G. “G.G.” Sikes, and her siblings, Brenda Stricklin, Mildred Southern, Kathy Mathess, and Merle Pyatt.
Dorothy worked for many years at the state hospital as an activities director, where she shared her creativity, compassion, and joy with others. She was a devoted member of Delassus Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and touched countless lives through her faith. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards with friends, traveling and fishing with Gale, and lovingly crafting her well-known Fred and Tillie teddy bears. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jim Frago. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
