Evelyn “Sissy” Mae Adams, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on July 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 77.She was born on September 21, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Ray A. and Helen N. (Bible) Young.
Sissy is survived by her devoted husband, Harlan Adams, and her children, Glen A. (Melissa) Francis and Carla (Allen) Francis Rhodes. She is also lovingly remembered by her stepchildren, Valerie (Jeff) Thompson and Lonnie (Shonna) Adams; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan Voorheis) Rhodes, Kylie (Paul) Dalton, Jaden (Taylor) Allen, Zack (Lisa) Thompson, Shane Adams, Drew (Amelia) Adams, and Makayla (Tim) O’Halloran; and great-grandchildren, Maverick Dalton, Braelyn Dalton, Hattie Allen, and Katherine Thompson. She is also survived by her siblings, William Burlbaw, Georgia Haught, and Billy Young; her sister-in-law, Donnie Young; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; her lifelong friend Carol Gray; and numerous other dear friends.
Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Young and Helen (Bible) Wilt, as well as her brothers, Jimmy Young and Darrel Burlbaw.
A proud member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sissy found joy in music and dancing, crafting, painting, and—most of all—spending time with her family. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the VFW Auxiliary of Farmington or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
