Gary Allen Laut

Gary Allen Laut of Farmington passed away April 8, 2016 at his residence at the age of 63. He was born August 31, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late William Walter Laut and Mary Jane (Stephens) Hennon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles William Laut and a brother-in-law, Gregory Lynn Montgomery.

Gary was a 1971 graduate of Farmington High School and was very proud to have served on the USS Hancock in the Navy. He was also a Navy recruiter for nine years in Sacramento, California. His time in the Navy was always a great topic of conversation. He had a brilliant mind and a great sense of humor. He could always make you laugh. Gary was an avid trout fisherman having spent much time in his Hardy, Arkansas home. He taught himself to tie his own flies and took the time to teach his girls the trade. He was always willing to help the fellow fishermen as well. Gary also enjoyed spending time camping and traveling with his loving family.

Gary was co-owner and Vice President of Marketing for Ozark Steel Fabricators. He played an inspirational role in the success of Ozark Steel along with his brothers, Robert Laut and David Laut.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Joyce (Buckley) Laut; three daughters whom he adored, Rachal (Isaac) Stephenson of Farmington, Brittany (Brady) Folbre of Columbia and Debra Laut of Farmington; two precious grandchildren, Alia and Aiden; and a grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert (Kitty) Laut, of Port Charlotte, Florida and David (Debbie) Laut of Farmington; a sister, JoAnn (Kevin) Culbert of Leesburg, West Virginia; his step-mother, Janet Laut; three step-sisters, Marion Keel Folkemer, Sherry Sexton and Kym Folkemer; a sister-in-law, Brenda Montgomery and brother-in-law, Neal Buckley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral beginning at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Johnston officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
