Gerald Edward Abt, 76, of Farmington, passed away January 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Camelot Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Ste. Genevieve County on August 9, 1949, to the late Gerald Francis Abt and Anna May (Wolk) Abt.
“Jerry,” as most knew him, was a 1969 graduate of Ste. Genevieve High School. He worked at Mississippi Lime for 39 years. He was blessed with a green thumb and was successful with any kind of gardening, especially vegetable gardening and raising beautiful roses. He also enjoyed woodworking, woodcutting, hunting, fishing, and camping.
He was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zell, Missouri.
He had an ornery sense of humor and loved to antagonize his family members.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Eileen Leona (Meyer) Abt; his children, Kurt (Kara) Abt, Amanda (Jeff) Wooldridge, Craig Abt, and Corey (Angela) Abt; six grandchildren, Haley, Hailey, Dustin, Brianna, Mallory, and Melaina; and siblings. Joseph (Diane) Abt, Joyce (Albert) Gegg, and Wayne (Rhonda) Abt. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11824 Zell Road, Ste. Genevieve, MO with Father Ryan Weber as celebrant. Share your memorials and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
