H. Nadine Mccalister

June 10, 1925 — September 13, 2009

H. Nadine McCalister, of Farmington, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Community Manor at the age of 84 years. She was born on June 10, 1925, at Hogan, MO, daughter of the late Everett and Lorene (Pearson) Pinkley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, LeRoy "Weedy" McCalister and her brother, Robert L. Pinkley. Nadine was a 1943 graduate of Flat River High School and was an active member of its Alumni Association. A member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington, Nadine was also active in the LePere-McCalister American Legion Auxiliary, Norman Rigdon VFW Auxiliary, and the St. Francois County Historical Society. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening, listening to music, dancing, sewing, researching genealogy, and studying local history. She will always be remembered for the handmade puppets she created for children undergoing treatment at Parkland Health Center. Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Mrs. James) Rigdon and Cindy Miller, all of Farmington, and her friend, Sheldon Combs of Fredericktown; a son, Marc McCalister and his fiance Cathy Savage of Festus; a sister, Wilma Mosier of Park Hills; a brother, Eugene Pinkley and his wife Carolyn of Cookeville, TN; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Pinkley of Park Hills; a brother-in-law, Eugene "Mem" McCalister and his wife Carolyn of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Brian Rigdon and his wife Sandra, Kelly (Mrs. Justin) Roberts, Carl Miller and his wife Heather, Eric Miller and Ryan Miller, all of Farmington, Christy Byrd, and Josh McCalister and his fiance Jill Finley, all of Festus; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Sara Rigdon, Lauren, Meghan and Nicole Roberts, Hannah, Ethan, Morgan and Lilly Miller, all of Farmington, and Isaac Byrd of Festus. Nadine also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 7 to 9 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Memorial United Methodist Church on Thursday at 10 a.m.with Dr. Rick Broadway officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
