James Michael Chilton, affectionately known as "Mike," was born on May 5, 1942, Ironton, Missouri. He passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Farmington, Missouri at the age of 82.
Mike's career was marked by a steadfast commitment to public service. He began his professional journey as a police officer, proudly serving communities in Florida, Bismarck, and De Soto. Following his tenure in law enforcement, Mike found his calling as a Superintendent at Fred Weber, a role he fulfilled with the same passion he exhibited throughout his life
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was a man of diverse interests and talents. He found joy in fishing and hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and the tranquility it offered. His passion for woodworking led him to become an excellent furniture builder, a skill that showcased his creativity and attention to detail. Additionally, he enjoyed collecting antiques.
Mike was a beloved father, leaving behind his children Tamara Williams of Farmington, Jeffrey (Vickie) Chilton of Terre du Lac, and Bryan (Paula) Chilton of Lesterville. He cherished each of his twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma (Sutton) Chilton, his wife, Janet (Mitchell) Chilton, his grandson, Derek Eaton, and his brother, Joseph Chilton.
