James J. McMillen, of Farmington, passed away on June 19, 2026, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing at the age of 89. He was born in Antioch, Illinois on February 16, 1937, to the late James Willard McMillen and Virginia Phyllis (Morley) McMillen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his significant other, Helen Govro.

James grew up in Antioch, Illinois, and graduated from high school there before going to college at the University of Illinois where he attained a bachelor’s degree in business. He spent a successful career in sales and was also the proprietor of the Copper Bell. An avid outdoorsman, James loved fishing, hunting and sailing with Captain Morgan. He was active in the Shriner’s Club, the area Elks and Eagles, and was a member of the Amvets.

Survivors include his children, Tammy (Lance) Warren and James (Mary Ann) McMillen; grandchildren, Kyle (Justice) Warren, Sydney (Ross) Quinton, Laura (Bryan) Schofield; great grandchildren, Thea, Anna, Warren, Nellie, Hayden, and Mason; and a sister, Phyllis Ann Kakacek. Also surviving are Kevin and Tracy Govro and their daughters, Kassie, Kenzie and Morgan; and his beloved Illinois family.
