Janan Louise Matz, most recently of Leadington, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on November 14, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Bernard Elmer and Jenny (Jenkins) White.
Janan is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, Phillip Fredrick Matz; her children, Becky (Phillip) Waltz Badger of South Bend, Indiana, and John (Jennifer) Waltz of LaPorte, Indiana; her step children, Christopher (Amy) Matz of Leadington, Missouri, Eric (Shelley) Matz of Carmel, Indiana, and Dawn Matz of Laporte, Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Warner of Michigan City, Indiana. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and many members of her extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn Burklow, Robert Klettke, and Carol Gerwing.
Janan was known for her exceptional skill as a cake decorator and spent many years sharing her talents through her work at Kroger. She also served as the former president of the Indiana State Home Builders Ladies Auxiliary. A gifted artist and craftswoman, she found great joy in painting, quilt making, and sewing. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
