JoAnn L. (Hovis) Crader Scott, of Park Hills, Missouri, entered eternal rest on March 17, 2026, at Country Meadows at the age of 90. She was born on November 26, 1935, in Flat River, Missouri, to Berthel and Alice D. (Dawson) Hovis.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, Dennis Crader Jr. of Clearwater, Florida, Kevin Crader of St. Louis, Missouri, and Alan Crader (wife, Susan) of Lake Ozark, Missouri; her grandchildren, Shawn, Robbie (wife, Andrea), Lisa, Jenny, and Wendy; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Ronald Hovis (wife, Rita) of Hillsboro, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Lillian Hovis of Grand Junction, Colorado; her cousin, Gloria Hovis of Farmington, Missouri; and Sheila Horton, who was like a daughter. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Crader, Sr.; her second husband, Y.V. Scott; her daughter, Sharon Merritt; her son, Wendell Crader; her siblings, Frank Hovis, Glenda Miller, and Norma Crawford (husband, the late James “Jim” Crawford); and her special canine companion, Susie.

JoAnn previously worked at Trimfoot Manufacturing and as a food service worker at the state hospital. She and her husband, Dennis, also formerly owned the Dairy Queen in Esther, Missouri.

JoAnn was a woman of Christian faith who was content in life and rarely complained. She loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with them and her many dear friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Country Meadows—especially Kim—for their love, joy, and wonderful care; to Preferred Hospice for their professionalism and compassionate service; and to Pastor Alan Berry for sharing his music and bringing joy to JoAnn during her stay.

A private celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Country Meadows Patient Fund, 1301 North St. Joe Drive, Park Hills, MO 63601, or to Preferred Hospice, 810 Progress Drive, Farmington, MO 63640.
