John “Skip” McLain, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on August 25, 2026, at his residence at the age of 91. He was born on February 16, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late John and Virginia (Hauk) McLain.

Skip is survived by his loving companion, Doris Brauer; his children, Linda (Glenn) Miller, Anne (Michael) Johnson, Tom (Sherri) McLain, and Liz (Bob) Komorowski; his daughter-in-law, Anne McLain; his grandchildren, Kyle (Aaron) McDowell, Keeley (Walker) Williamson, Sam (Taylor) Miller, Jacob (Kristin) Johnson, Zachary (Cristin) Johnson, Elizabeth (Dima) Sobolev, John (Anthony) McLain, Sarah McLain (Joey White), Thomas (Emily) Jones, Rylie McLain, Avea McLain, and Erris McLain; and his great-grandchildren, Weston Williamson, Brodey Williamson, Wyatt McDowell, Sawyer McDowell, Monroe Miller, Carter Miller, Lincoln Miller, Benjamin Johnson, Brock Johnson, Madison Johnson, Reed Johnson, Ava McCormac, Noa Sobolev, Violet McLain, Merrill Jones, and Charlotte Jones. He is also survived by his siblings, Jacqueline McLain Truss, Brian (Linda) McLain, Jeffrey (Debbie) McLain, and Mark (Jane Groves) McLain; his brothers-in-law, Gary Young and Bob Drabing; as well as extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his wife, Judy McLain; his son, Patrick McLain; and his siblings, Ginger Young, Milicent Drabing, James McLain, and Mike McLain.

Skip proudly served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked as an airplane mechanic before becoming a pilot, combining his love of aviation with his adventurous spirit. He later worked as a real estate developer, developing apartments and commercial and residential properties throughout the St. Louis area and locally. Skip enjoyed boating, swimming, and flying his plane. He loved the ocean and especially treasured the many trips he shared with Judy to Florida. Above all, Skip loved his family and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Tim Morgan officiating and full military honors. Share your memories and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com
