Johnnie "BJ" Dean Mathis Jr., of Herculaneum, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident on July 3, 2026, at the age of 49. He was born on December 29, 1976, in Columbia, Missouri.

BJ is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Mathis; his children, Kayla Harrington (Mitchell), Krystal Mathis, Michelle Day (Wyatt), Carissa Bouse (Jon), and Britney Horman; and his cherished grandchildren, Brayden, Langston, Falyn, and Asher. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another grandchild, expected in September 2026, and looked forward to welcoming many more grandchildren in the years ahead. He is also survived by his mother, Theresa Glowczeweski; his father, Johnnie Mathis Sr.; his brother, Brian Martin; his mother-in-law, Renee Hudson; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Martin; his grandfather, Lloyd Martin; his aunt, Joanna Shaw; and his stepfather, Spud Glowczewski.

BJ was the owner and operator of Mushing Logistics, LLC. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in his business and providing for his family.

When he wasn't working, BJ enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time on four-wheelers, putting on fireworks displays, and taking pride in his truck. Above all else, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, making memories with them whenever he could. His family was the greatest joy in his life.
