Kay Giessing, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on November 11, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living of Farmington at the age of 80. She was born on December 16, 1944, in Lesterville, Missouri, to the late Vernon and Dorothy (Black) Ruble.
Kay is survived by her loving son, Eric Giessing (Maria Shirshekan); her cherished grandchildren, Kodi Giessing, Karli Tucker (Jacob), and Alaina Shirshekan; and her adored great-grandchildren, Bentley Tucker and Emma Tucker. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Giessing, and her dear friends, Margie Botkin, Elaine Giessing, Michelle England, Susie Rohrer, and Helen McDaniel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald “Don” Giessing.
Kay attended Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Education. She dedicated more than 30 years to teaching elementary students in the Farmington R-VII School District, where her warmth, patience, and passion for learning left a lasting impression on generations of children.
A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington, Kay found strength and fellowship in her faith. She was also a proud member of the Farmington VFW Post 5896 Auxiliary. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, antiquing, practicing yoga, and exploring her love of essential oils. Some of her happiest moments were spent alongside Don at their cabin on the Black River, where they created countless cherished memories together.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
