Kerry Schmidt of Farmington entered eternal rest peacefully on August 28, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the people he loved most, at the age of 71. Kerry was born on November 21, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Robert and Celestia (Baumgartner) Schmidt.
For 53 years, Kerry shared his life with his beloved wife, Sherll (Russom) Schmidt. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, memories, and a lifetime of stories that will be treasured forever.
Kerry was a proud father to his daughters, Tonia Schaefer (Chris) of High Ridge, Lisa Ziegler (Brian) of Cedar Hill, Tammy Missey (Shaun) of Farmington, and Trisha Camden (Mike) of Hillsboro. But perhaps nothing brought Kerry more joy than being a grandpa. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, Chyenee Crump (Keith), Lakota Mounce (JD), Alissa Ziegler, Samantha Ziegler, Dylan Ziegler, Zack Ziegler, Shelby Missey, Cameron Missey, Cole Anderson, and Chloe Camden, and nine great-grandchildren, Kacie, Kayden, Malcolm, Madden, Huxson, Weston, Sawyer, Isla, and Foster. Kerry is also survived by his siblings, Otto Schmidt (Linda) of St. Louis, Linda Allen (Floyd) of St. Louis, and Gary Schmidt (Barb) of Iron Mountain; his sister-in-law, Sandy Schmidt of Pacific; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Celestia Schmidt, and his siblings, Robert Schmidt, Wally Schmidt (wife, the late Darlene), and Darlene Schmidt.
Kerry formerly worked at Alumax Foils in St. Louis. He loved spending time with the people closest to him, sharing a laugh, making memories, and simply enjoying being together. One of the traditions he especially looked forward to was the annual casino trips to celebrate each family member's birthday and holidays playing family bingo. Those who knew him will always remember his familiar response and famous phrase, “It Don’t Matter.” In the years ahead, those simple words will undoubtedly bring a smile, a laugh, and a reminder of the man they loved so dearly.
Above all else, Kerry was a family man. His wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his world. Though Kerry has left this world, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the laughter he shared will live on through every person who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
