Lestie Hayes

FARMINGTON Lestie Yvonne Hayes of Farmington, passed away January 29, 2017 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 74. She was born in Cadet on August 25, 1942 to the late Douglas C. and Irene (Martin) McMahan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Hayes in 1966 and a brother, Lloyd McMahan.

Lestie, a dedicated and loving mother, devoted much of her adult life to looking after her children and grandchildren. Earlier in her life she worked at the Brown Shoe Factory. An avid reader, Lestie also enjoyed sewing. Her family will remember her wonderful cooking skills and they especially enjoyed her chicken and dumplings.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Hershel Hayes; three sons, Ron (Robin) Hayes of Ironton, Rick (Darla) Hayes of Farmington and Randy Hayes of Arcadia; six grandchildren, Adam, Derick, Josh, Lindsey, Katie and Corey; four great grandchildren, Emma, Corbyn, Cambrie and Kinley; five sisters, Joann Boyer, Erma Dennis, Janet Davis, Bonnie DeClue and Audrey Marler; a brother, Vernon McMahan; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
