Lois Jane Boyd

Lois Jane Boyd was born on July 24, 1950 in Farmington, MO and passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on July 26, 2026.

Lois spent her early years on the family farm settled by her great grandfather in the 1800’s. The farm and especially the creek, held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed “sticking her toes” in the cold, spring-fed water any chance she got. It was here she gained her fondness for the outdoors and nature and established her faith in Christ.

At six years old, Lois became ill while at school one day and walked home. It would be a year and a half before she was able to return. Lois survived polio but lived with its pain and crippling effects for the rest of her life. Whatever trials she faced, however, she strove to live out one of her favorite verses; This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it’. Psalm 118:24

Lois completed her education, graduating from Farmington Senior High School. In her early 20’s, she worked with her parents in Fredericktown managing the Womack Hotel, PawPaw Patch Pet Store and Greyhound bus stop. This helped pave the way to her relocation to Houston, Texas and a successful career with Trailways Bus Lines until she was no longer able to work.

Lois was a woman of deep faith, regularly reading and studying the bible, engaging others in spiritual discussions, supporting biblical ministries and enjoying inspiration programs and music. Lois enjoyed a variety of crafts including painting, crocheting, button making, and soap and candle making. She enjoyed movie nights with friends and family, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Lois appreciated classic country music, especially songs by her friend Gene Watson. Lois loved the color purple, which was evident in her wardrobe, home decor, household goods and even her vehicles. She was a self-professed, founding member of “The Old Maids Society”, which met regularly and engaged in a variety of shenanigans. Lois had an assortment of pets over the years such as fish, exotic birds, cats and several faithful canine companions, including Addy who survives.

Lois loved her family and is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, including her special next-door neighbors the Govreau family. She also had numerous cousins, many who were very close. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah “EJ” and Hazel (Kennon) Boyd, brothers Dennis “Jerry” Boyd and J Lee Boyd and sister Mary Lou Eames.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 9 am until the funeral service at 10 am officiated by Pastor Tim Mattingly. Interment will take place at Mayberry Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve County following the funeral service.

Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to the compassionate caregivers from The Life Center and Serenity Hospice for providing support that enabled her to return home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Old Pine Log Church restoration fund or Mayberry Cemetery.
