Lois Fay Huitt

June 24, 1946 — September 22, 2017

FARMINGTON Lois Fay (Smith) Huitt entered into Heaven at Presbyterian Manor on September 22, 2017 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 6 days. She was born June 24, 1946 in St. Louis, daughter of the late Thomas George Smith and Velva Mary (Herrington) Hayes. She was baptized into the Christian faith in 1951. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Ina Ruth (Smith) Freeze and son-in-law, Bryan Nash.

On August 31, 1967 she was married to Claude A. Huitt, Sr., who survives, along with their daughters, Debra Nash of Bismarck and Melinda (Eric) Barton of Farmington and grandson, Raymond O'Connor of Farmington. She is survived by a brother, Lawson George Smith of St. Louis and a sister, Mary Louise Riddle of DeSoto. Many other relatives and close friends remain to mourn her passing.

Fay grew up in St. Louis and graduated McKinley High School in 1964 where she met

her best friend, Betty (Mitchell) Laycock, who resides in St. Clair, MO. Fay moved to Potosi then to Farmington in 1967 where she worked at the State Hospital #4 for three and a half years. She then worked at St. Francois County Livestock sale barn cafe, Tetley's Cottage Cafe and Presbyterian Manor. Prior to retirement she worked at Biltwell. After retirement she began volunteer activities. She donated her talents to create the Farmington Middle School year books for 1984-1986. Fay also volunteered approximately 20 years at the Farmington Oaks Senior Nutrition Center. She was also a 14 year breast cancer survivor.

Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, September 25 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning at 7 a.m until the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Rocky Good officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Farmington Oaks Senior Nutrition Center.
