Louis Allen Matkin of Knob Lick passed away on Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 5 days. He was born on April 2, 1937, at Knob Lick, son of the late Benjamin and Bula (Allen) Matkin. He was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Lee Roy Matkin. A 1956 graduate of Farmington High School, Allen was employed for many years as an assembly line supervisor for the Woodson Products Co. He was a faithful member of the Delassus First Baptist Church, which was a big part of his life. In his spare time, Allen enjoyed fishing with his son, Randy Nielsen, riding his lawnmower, and spending time with his cats and dog, Puggles. He is survived by his wife Rosa Lee Matkin, brother, Joe Matkin and wife Sarah of Rock Island, IL, sister, Mary (Mrs. Larry) Boothby of Fredericktown, four sons, Greg Nielsen and wife Gale of Coffman, Donald Nielsen and wife Vickie of Fredericktown, Randall Nielsen and wife Dana, and Charles Klempert and wife Amy, and a daughter, Tamela (Mrs. Bill) Mund, all of Farmington. Also surviving is a niece, LaVon Boothby of Portland, OR, and a mother-in-law, Glenda Grindstaff of Farmington, 11 grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 7 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Price officiating. Interment will be at Knob Lick Cemetery.
