She was passionate about her work and found great fulfillment in helping and caring for those in need.
Margaret “Jean” Wolfe, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on September 19, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson at the age of 93. She was born on September 2, 1933, in De Soto, Missouri, to the late Richard Wilbur and Wilma Marie (Schmick) Pope.
Jean is survived by her children, Constance “Connie” Thomas (Gary) of Farmington, Karen Spoonster of Warrenton, and Keith Walker (Della) of Reno, Nevada; her stepchildren, Patricia Brown of Manassas, Virginia, Richard Wolfe (Jeanette) of California, Bob Wolfe (Margie) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Dan Wolfe (Carole) of Pennsylvania; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Bob Thurman of Farmington; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. Wolfe, Jr.; her former spouse and the father of her children, Hubert J. Walker; her sons, Jerry Richard Walker (the late Mary) and Mark Walker; her granddaughter, Jessica Boegemann; her siblings, Richard “Bud” Pope (the late Alberta), Raymond Pope (the late Maria) and Donna Thurman; and her son-in-law, Robert Spoonster.
Jean dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Parkland Health Center and was one of the first two nurses to establish home health care in St. Francois County. She was passionate about her work and found great fulfillment in helping and caring for those in need. Her compassionate nature extended well beyond her career. While living in Pennsylvania, Jean volunteered as a child advocate at a women’s shelter, was a member of the Junior Women’s Club and was actively involved in her church, First Methodist Church in Meyersdale.
Jean had a creative and curious spirit. She was a gifted artist who especially enjoyed painting, and she also found joy in crocheting and reading. Above all, Jean will be remembered for her caring heart, her love for others and the many lives she touched throughout her 93 years.
Jean will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
