Mary Alice Horton

Mary Alice Horton, of Bismarck, entered eternal rest on June 19, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 78.

She was born on March 5, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to James and Virginia (Pogue) Long.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Tammy Benscoter of Farmington; Teri (Lindy) LaChance of Desloge; Missy (James) Antonic of St. Louis; and Shelly (Chad) Willis of Gulf Breeze, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alyssa (Kelly) Eckhoff, Cody (Katie) Antonic, Dylan (Kristen) Benscoter, Hayden LaChance, Anna Antonic, Olivia Willis, Emma LaChance, and Calan Willis; her great-grandchildren, Brinkley Eckhoff, Gattlin Eckhoff, Paislee Antonic, Sophia Antonic, Chase Antonic, Ila Benscoter, Charlie Eckhoff, and Blake Benscoter; her former spouse and the father of her daughters, John Horton; her special friend, Mick Anderson; her special niece, Carrie Gruenke; and many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings: Lester Long, Johnny Long, May Pulliam, Elaine Skaggs, and Gladys Gibson.

Mary worked throughout her life as a CNA, cook, and housekeeper for numerous nursing homes. She enjoyed shopping, embroidery, and coloring. She will be remembered as a sweet and loving woman who cherished her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Cozean chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
