De Soto

Listen to Obituary

Mearl Henson, of De Soto, entered eternal rest on January 30, 2026, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehab, at the age of 84. He was born on April 28, 1941, in Ellington, Missouri, to James and Alta (Fears) Henson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Wromble) Henson; his children, Patricia (Donald) Todaro of Desloge, Tracy (Trish) Henson of Farmington, and Marci Loraine of Bonne Terre; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mearl was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim (the late Flora) Henson, Floyd Henson, and Earl Henson; and his stepchildren, Shelley Wromble, Lori Wromble, and Julie Wromble.

Mearl will be remembered as a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. He retired from Anheuser-Busch after more than 25 years of employment as a machinist. He was a life member of Elks Lodge #689 of De Soto. He enjoyed hot rods and working on cars, was a certified marksman through Browning, and deeply loved his dogs. Those who knew Mearl well will also remember his enjoyment of going toe-to-toe in a good argument.

Per his request, no formal services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
