Nancy B. Powell-Harris

February 18, 1953 — July 25, 2025

Farmington

On the 25th day of July 2025, Nancy Berniece Harris was reunited with her husband of 30 years, the late George W. Harris, as God greeted her at the pearly gates. Nancy was born February 18, 1953, to the late Francis Herman and Opal Berniece Powell. Also preceded in death were three brothers, Gary Dean Powell, Micheal Wayne Powell, and Robert Powell, and a sister-in-law, Joann Henson.

Nancy's children who carry on her memory are Ms. Sandy Shelley of Farmington, Mrs. Bobbi (Richard) Francis of Farmington, Mrs. Tabby (Chad) Harris-Risenhoover of Park Hills, and Mr. Richard (Reanna) Ramey of Alabama. Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren, Mr. Jacob (Brileigh) Francis, Mr. Brandon Francis, Mr. Zack (Mackenzie) Risenhoover, Mr. Clay (Mackenzie) Risenhoover; her great grandsons, Korbyn Francis, Damon Francis, and Lucas Risenhoover; her sister, Ms. Frankie Williams; her brother, Mr. Billy (Brenda) Powell; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edna (Loydd) Whitworth. Nancy is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

Nancy was a member of the Farmington Church of the Nazarene, where she had attended since 1963. She worked at Parkland Hospital after retiring from Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. Before that, she served many friends at the Farmington Bowling Alley. Nancy also served her church as secretary for many years and supported the community by managing a food pantry.

As a teen, Nancy could often be found showing horses with her brother. She was a proud Girl Scout and later became a Scout leader for her daughters. She had a sweet tooth for ice cream and root beer, sometimes enjoyed together, and was known to sweet talk the cook for a burnt hotdog at family gatherings. Nancy loved watching Christmas movies all year round and had a fondness for craft fairs and festivals. She found joy in fellowship with her church family and in garage gatherings with extended relatives. She and George were active members of the Foothills Car Club and could often be seen at car shows on the weekends. Above all, Nancy cherished her beloved cats, Sissy and Sassy.

A visitation will be held at the Farmington Church of the Nazarene on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Roever officiating. Interment will follow the service at Three Rivers Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Farmington Church of the Nazarene Children and Teens Group.
