Orville William King

December 22, 1919 — February 19, 2014

Orville William King of Farmington, loving father and brother went to be with Our Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 94 years. He was born on December 22, 1919, at Cantwell, MO, son of the late William T. and Pearl (Hickman) King. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Glenda Gladys King, two brothers, Edward Elmo King and Virgil Carter King, a sister who died in infancy, Wilma Louella and three half-sisters, Rachel, Charity and Jewel. Orville proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII with General Stroh's 106th"Lion" Division in Northern France as well as in the Aleutian Islands. He received a bronze battle star for his Division's heroic stand at St. Vith blunting Von Runstedt's drive during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. King was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington. Orville spent his whole life dedicated to his family and his community and was a long time volunteer worker at the Farmington Senior Center. He will be truly missed and remembered by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by four sons, Michael King (Valerie) of England, Richard King of Bismarck, Ronald King (Carmel) of Dallas, TX and Randall King (Mitzi) of Azle, TX; two daughters, Charlotte Bates (Charles) of Topeka, KS and Sharon King of Farmington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister Oberia Helton; and a brother, Curtis King (Betty). Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Sunday,February 23, from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday morning in the funeral home beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Scott Hall and Reverend Jeff Brady officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
