FARMINGTON – Pearl Elizabeth Hovis passed into her eternal home on August 12, 2025, at her home at the age of 85. She was born November 24, 1939, in Doe Run, Missouri, to Harvey Druey Hampton and Mary Elizabeth (Bainter) Hampton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alvin Hovis, Jr., to whom she was married to on November 19, 1960, in Doe Run. They met at Trimfoot Manufacturing, where they both worked. She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy “Tim” Hovis, Sr.; a grandson, Timothy “Timmy” Hovis, Jr.; son-in-law, David Anderson; stepmother, Glenda (Harvey) Hampton; five sisters, Geneva Jones, Margie Wells, Laura Mae McDaniels, Shirley Martin and Helen Juanita; seven brothers, Wilburn, Everett, Orville, Edward, Donald, Raymond and Fred; three step-sisters, Vera Mae Hughes, Opal Bilbruck, and Martha Lair; three step-brothers, Howard Hughes, Lee Hughes and Paul Hughes.
Pearl loved being around children; she and her husband were youth leaders at Knob Lick Church of God for many years. She babysat for many children throughout the years. Pearl retired from Special Acres State School after 26 years where she was a teacher’s aide and drove their bus for 20 years. She attended Fredericktown First Freewill Baptist Church. Many will fondly remember her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls that she enjoyed baking and giving away to friends and family
Survivors include her daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Anderson; Grandchildren, Allicia Hovis, Jonathan (Vanessa) Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Ashley Nettles, Michelle Austin, Christina (Jason) Kellick; great-grandchildren, Edward, Hannah, Jaycee, Bristol, Peyton, Drew, AnnaMae, Breauna, & Owen; great-great-grandchild Rhyker; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Marcus Memorial Cemetery in Fredericktown. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
