EAST PRAIRIE Reverend Raymond Wayne Hannah of East Prairie, Missouri passed away at his home on February 5, 2016 at the age of 79. He was born November 12, 1936 to the late Raymond Smith Hannah and Edith Mattie Pearl (Johnson) Hannah. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Staggs) Hannah, a son, Richard "Rick" Hannah; brothers, William and Larry Hannah and a sister, Betty Quertrermous.
Although his name was Raymond he was known by many people as "Brother Hannah", "Buddy", "Dad" and "Grandpa". He never ever met a stranger. Above all, to know him was to love him. Raymond was a hard worker who retired from Yellow Freight and on the side ran a successful backhoe and septic tank business. The one great job he fulfilled with all his heart was 48 years answering the call from the Lord to share His word. He has touched so many people with his kind heart and words just as the Lord had put it on his heart. He also played the guitar and sang whatever the Lord put on his heart. Whether you bought a watermelon from him or a car from him, he was one of a kind. He always had time to give you a little more on his dealings and he was always willing to share the word of the Lord.
He always allowed time to pursue his many other interests such as hunting, fishing, and enjoying his friends and family. One thing is for sure he never did anything without the Lord being approving of it, and he was always willing to share his wonderful knowledge that wasn't learned from a school or published in a book but from the book the Holy Bible and the blood of Jesus.
Survivors include three children, Debi (Scott) Smith of Mill Creek, MO, Gene (Vickie) Hannah of Doe Run, Roger (Tracie) Hannah of Farmington; daughter-in-law, Janice Hannah of Arcadia; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many special friends, Mary Joyce Bright of East Prairie and Angel Smith of Mill Creek as well as so many more; and not to dare forget his fishing buddies, Junior Wallace, Floyd Dover, Gene, Rick, Roger and Scotty; and the largest church family and circle of friends.
