Richard Ivan Barnes, of St. Louis, entered eternal rest on November 28, 2025, at Christian Northeast Hospital at the age of 74. He was born on March 15, 1951, to the late Winfred and Leola (Cunningham) Barnes.
He is survived by his children, Susan Barnes (Derek Redding), Sherry Barnes, and Joshua Barnes; his grandchildren, Marcus Barnes, Zachary Barnes, McKenzie Redding, Kaylee Barnes, and two additional cherished grandchildren; his sisters, Linda Bell, Bonnie Hutchings, Pam Wyatt, and Dana Cartwright; the niece and nephew he resided with, Donna Burgess (Mark); and his ex-wife, Rose Barnes. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Barnes; his son, Richard Barnes; and his siblings, Carolyn Klein, Veronica Mann, Donna Whitworth, and Winfred Barnes.
Richard cherished time spent with his family and found joy in the simple moments shared together. He was of the Pentecostal faith, and his beliefs were a steady source of comfort and strength throughout his life. Richard enjoyed old western movies and watching wrestling, and he especially loved trips to Branson. He also had a deep appreciation for gospel and country music, which was often the soundtrack to his days.
A visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Tim Morgan. Interment to follow the funeral service at Three Rivers Cemetery.
