FARMINGTON – Robert “Duane” Johnson of Farmington passed away on April 5, 2025, at Country Meadows surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 82. He was born in Chestnut Ridge, Missouri, on April 24, 1942, to the late Hadley H. and Myra I. (Underwood) Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue (Causey) Johnson; his son, Robert Alan Johnson and his wife, Diane; his stepdaughter, Katie LaChance and her husband, Kerry; his stepson, Dustin Brooks; his sister, Helen Cole and her husband, Ted; his sister-in-law, Mollie Turner and her husband, Donnie; and his brother-in-law, Reggie Causey. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gary Causey.
Duane graduated from Farmington High School in 1960. He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 as a Navy Seabee. After his military service, he worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) and the City of Farmington.
For those fortunate enough to know Duane, he was larger than life. Yet, he enjoyed the simplest of pleasures – hunting, fishing, gardening, tinkering on his old cars, and spending time with his cat, Ruthie. He will be profoundly missed but will live on in all the stories he shared with anybody who would listen. The stories that he shared have become more special than before. To those who knew him best, he was affectionately known as “Hollywood”.
To honor Duane’s life a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 11433 Olde Cabin Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141.
