Ronald Ray Umfleet of rural Ste. Genevieve County passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence at the age of 67. He was born September 9, 1944, at Leadington, son of the late Harry C. and Leona Edna (Barnes) Umfleet. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Umfleet, brothers, Harry Neil Umfleet, Robert Umfleet and Donald Umfleet, and a sister, Edna Whited. Ron honorably served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during his service. He was an active member of Farmington VFW Post 5896. Survivors include his children, Jeffrey P. and wife Tina Umfleet, and Lisa (Thomas) and husband Tony Mengwasser, all of Farmington, and Denise Snow of Las Vegas, NV, six grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Thomas, Jackson and Emma Umfleet, and Geoffrey and Macey Osborne, and a brother, Kenny Umfleet of Leadington. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Jay Lacey officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be at a later time at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Farmington VFW Post 5896. All services have been entrusted to the care and direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
