Shirley Esphorst of Manchester, Missouri, entered eternal rest on October 20, 2025, at Maplebrook Senior Living at the age of 85. She was born on February 8, 1940, in Minimum, Missouri, to the late Walter and Gertrude (King) Sims.
Shirley is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Debbie Graham (Harry), Judy Schumacher, Patty Johnson (Rich), Randy “Woody” Woods, Tony Woods, Walter Woods (Lynn), Christopher Letner, and Kenneth Nees. She is also survived by her cherished canine companion, Sophie, and many great-nieces and great-nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Vilray “Bill” Esphorst; her siblings, Christine, Donna, Darlene, Dorothy, George Lee, Johnnie and Gary; her nieces and nephews, Steve, Mike, Claudia, Sherry, and Tammy; and her niece’s husbands, Gary Schumacher, Sonny Kloin and Dennis Bennett.
After graduating from Sanford Brown College with an associate degree, Shirley built a successful career first as President of Consumer Money order and then later went on to become the Vice President at Siegel-Robert Automotive, where she was admired for her leadership, professionalism, and dedication.
Shirley lived a life full of adventure and compassion. She loved traveling, attending Broadway musicals, exploring new restaurants, and spending time in her garden. A lifelong animal lover, she devoted much of her time to supporting stray rescue organizations and caring for animals in need.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where she will be laid rest with her husband, Bill.
