Thomas Frank Messmer of Doe Run, Missouri, passed away on December 1, 2025, at his home at the age of 65. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 4, 1959, to the late Clarence Messmer and Catherine (Wessel) Messmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Saffell.
Tom was a member of the Farmington graduating class of 1978. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy soon after high school and served as a diesel mechanic for two years. He worked as a truck driver and was a siding specialist as well, but spent most of his adult life as an automotive upholsterer. He loved cars, rebuilding and fixing up, and restoring them. His sense of humor and wit will not be forgotten. He was helpful to friends and family, always lending a helping hand.
Survivors include his daughter, Cody Helms and husband, Allen “Willie”; grandchildren, Taryn House and Jacob Thompson, Colton Helms and Kylee Helms, great grandson, William “Willie” Kramer; nephew, Kevin Barker, niece, Rebecca Layton; the mother of his daughter, Evelyn Minks; his special canine companion, Nala; great nephews Evan Voyles and Braden Ashcraft and special friend Johnny Carr.
