Toby James Miller passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the age of 38. He was born on August 11, 1974, at Fredericktown, son of Michael Glenn Miller and Martha Lou (Coffey) Crump. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Dorothy Miller, his maternal grandparents, Hubert and Lillian Coffey; and his step-father, Robert Crump. Toby was a 1992 graduate of Farmington High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Upon his return to Farmington, he entered the Police Academy and thereafter went to work for the City of Desloge and the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department. Toby enjoyed collecting guns and was an accomplished gunsmith. One of his passions was teaching gun safety to others. He will be remembered for always being an honorable gentleman who was willing to help others at every opportunity. Survivors include his wife, Melody (Richardson) Miller; two children, Conner James Purkett and Taylor Marie Miller; his mother, Martha (Coffey) Crump; his father and step-mother, Michael and Brenda Miller; his mother and father-in-law, Edna and Dean Richardson; three brothers, Jacob Hartshorn, Jonathan Hartshorn and Curtis Slade; four sisters, Angel Boessen, Tara Johnson, Jessica Hartshorn and Jessica Crump; special friends, Matt Richardet and Lee Chambers; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Richardson. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Memorial Chapel.
